Organizer identity verification

Every organizer must verify their identity before a page goes live. We accept a Zimbabwean National ID, passport, or driver's licence. Documents are reviewed within 24 hours. Pages remain in draft until verification is complete.

How it works

  1. 1Upload a clear photo of your national ID or passport
  2. 2Our team reviews the document within 24 hours
  3. 3Your name and ID number are matched against the page details
  4. 4Verified pages display a blue shield badge visible to all contributors

Death certificate or co-signer vouching

We require proof that a bereavement has occurred. Organisers can upload an official death certificate, or provide two co-signers — trusted community members who confirm the loss by entering their mobile number and national ID.

How it works

  1. 1Option A: Upload a certified death certificate (PDF or photo)
  2. 2Option B: Two co-signers each confirm via SMS with their national ID
  3. 3Co-signers receive a one-time code to verify their identity
  4. 4Both paths are reviewed before the page is activated

Co-signer approval for fund release

No funds above USD 200 are released without approval from at least two co-signers. Co-signers are nominated by the organiser and must be independent of the organiser. They receive an SMS for every disbursement request and can approve or flag it.

How it works

  1. 1Organiser submits a disbursement request with purpose and amount
  2. 2Both co-signers receive an SMS with the request details
  3. 3Each co-signer approves or raises a concern via SMS reply
  4. 4Funds are released only when both co-signers have approved

Transparent expense tracking

Organisers are required to log every expense on the page. Contributors can see exactly how funds are being used — from funeral home fees to catering and transport. Receipts can be attached to each expense entry.

How it works

  1. 1Organiser logs each expense with vendor, amount, and date
  2. 2Receipts are optionally attached and visible to contributors
  3. 3Paid, partial, and pending statuses are shown in real time
  4. 4The full expense ledger is public on the bereavement page

Fraud reporting & moderation

Any visitor can report a page they believe is fraudulent. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team within 4 hours. Pages under active investigation are flagged and contributions are paused until the review is complete.

How it works

  1. 1Click 'Report this page' on any bereavement page
  2. 2Describe your concern — we accept anonymous reports
  3. 3Our team reviews within 4 hours and contacts the organiser
  4. 4If fraud is confirmed, the page is suspended and contributors are notified

What the verified badge means

A blue shield on a bereavement page means the organiser's identity has been verified, a death certificate or two co-signers have confirmed the bereavement, and the page is actively monitored by the Chemayangu team.
